I am an independent consultant for a national direct sales company. I demonstrate my product at home parties, primarily to groups of women. I started this blog as a way to document all the amusing, crazy, unexpected, frustrating and eyebrow-raising aspects of this job. So many times I return home from parties with great anecdotes and I needed a vehicle that would allow me to record them for posterity.
My intention is not to promote my personal business or to bring the company into disrepute. For this reason I will not be posting identifying features about the company name or product.
I am also a wife, a mother, a world traveler and a crafter.

I love that your goal is not to bring disrepute to your company. As a marketing consultant with a focus on home party plans and direct sales, I am often asked why I recommend blogging since party plan companies apparently do not allow home party consultants to market online.
And I say simple, your website is about marketing and promoting your self and not your product and/or company!
You are right about the crazy, frustrating and unexpected occurrences that is for sure.

Your blog is hilarious! Although I’m a consultant for a direct sales company is Sydney Australia, and I have had EXACTLY the same hostesses as you… you know, the ones whose children stay up until 10pm, who decide to have the party outside, or who turn on the TV ‘to keep the kids quiet’ 2 feet away from where you are trying give your presentation!
So funny to hear that I am not alone is meeting some… unexpected hitches.
